About Discount Calculator
Our discount calculator helps shoppers and businesses calculate sale prices, savings, and discount percentages instantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Discount Amount = Original Price × (Discount Percentage / 100). Sale Price = Original Price − Discount Amount. For example, 25% off ₹800: Discount = ₹200, Sale Price = ₹600.
Original Price = Sale Price / (1 − Discount%/100). For example, if an item costs ₹600 after a 25% discount: Original = 600 / 0.75 = ₹800.
Apply discounts sequentially, not additively. For 20% off then 10% off a ₹1,000 item: First discount = ₹800, Second discount = ₹800 × 0.90 = ₹720. The effective discount is 28%, not 30%.
A discount reduces the price at the point of sale. A rebate is a partial refund given after the purchase is completed (post-sale), usually requiring you to submit a claim.
Discount % = ((Original − Sale) / Original) × 100. For example, from ₹1,200 to ₹900: Discount % = ((1200 − 900) / 1200) × 100 = 25%.
BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) is effectively a 50% discount per unit if you buy 2. It's a marketing strategy that drives volume. BOGO 50% off means the second item is half price, equivalent to 25% off the total.
Convert all deals to a common metric: cost per unit or effective discount percentage. For example, "30% off" vs. "Buy 2 get 1 free" (33% off per unit) — the BOGO deal is better if you need 3 units.
