How to Use Pythagorean Theorem Calculator

  1. 1 Enter any 2 of the 3 sides of a right triangle
  2. 2 Leave the unknown side blank
  3. 3 Click Calculate to find the missing side and angles

Formula & Methodology

Pythagorean Theorem: a² + b² = c²

Where c is the hypotenuse (longest side, opposite the right angle) and a, b are the other two sides.

To find c: c = √(a² + b²)
To find a: a = √(c² - b²)
To find b: b = √(c² - a²)

About Pythagorean Theorem Calculator

The Pythagorean theorem is one of the most fundamental principles in geometry. It states that in a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of squares of the other two sides: a² + b² = c².

This calculator lets you find any missing side by entering just two known values. It also calculates the interior angles using trigonometry.
